Congratulations to TWO Community Heros
On Thursday 20th March 2014 one of our Explorer Scouts and Young Leaders, Connor Simpson, was nominated and selected as a Shipley Community Hero. Not only that but out of the 5 worthy nominees, he won the category for Young People and gained a £200 cheque which he has donated to our International Trip to Switzerland next year. This will provide everyone involved with a Sponsored Polo Shirt – Thank You Connor for your donation, your hard work and your commitment.
And to top it all off, James Stannett our very own Assistant Group Scout Leader, also received a nomination for a Community Hero. This is not only for the huge commitment he has shown to scouting but also the several community, voluntary and youth work he undertakes in the Windhill and wider areas.
We are so proud of you both as you show Scouting off at its best thank you!

First Non-Uniform Night Winner
The week before October, February and May half term are Non-uniform nights where members have the chance to come in non-uniform for £1. Last night was our FIRST try – £18 was raised as 18 members did not come in uniform. There names were placed in a draw and the winner was picked at the end of Explorers last night. One Third of the money (to a maximum of £20) is set aside as the prize. Our first winner of the £6 (1/3 of £18) first prize is:
Dillon Holmes!
Well Done Dillon we will give you your prize when we next see you.
The more that enter, the bigger the prize and the more money raised for group funds. Next Non-Uniform Night will be Tuesday 18th February 2014.
Thanks to everyone who took part – if you didn’t win, better luck next time!
